Everest is an Indian restaurant located on Chesterfield Road in Sheffield, it provides the dine-in experience and also take away with delivery or collection option.
Upon entering the restaurant you will be greeted by a friendly member of staff who will escort you to your table. There isn’t really any waiting to order, you don’t feel rushed but somehow they manage to give you just enough time to decide on what you want without feeling like you’re waiting for them to come back.
I definitely recommend ordering some papadums with your drink, they’re not greasy at all and the pickle tray is really fresh!
With the portion sizes here you don’t really need a starter but I would recommend trying the Mini Platter, it’s small enough for one person, but we shared it between two which means it’s a really nice taster without being too heavy, especially if you’re having the papadums!
All of the curries I’ve tried have been absolutely lovely but I would definitely recommend the Lamb Dhansak, this is a wonderful fusion of indian spices with lentils, lamb and pineapple. The pineapple is left in a ring, not as chunks, meaning that the sweetness of the fruit adds to the flavour but doesn’t mask it. I know some people are put off by pineapple but this really works. The Lamb is wonderfully cooked and truly melts in the mouth, I often have reservations about ordering Lamb in a restaurant as it’s often over cooked and chewy. At Everest all of the meats are cooked perfectly and there is no gristle or fat.
Rice is often a debate when eating out, I’ve had the conversation and I’ve heard lots of other people having this conversation. Nobody wants to order too much rice but nobody wants to run out either! Well both of the times we’ve been to this restaurant we’ve shared the rice and it’s enough to share.
This has quickly become my favourite place to eat out. We enjoyed our first visit so much we ordered a takeaway very soon after and recently returned to celebrate the fifth anniversary of our first date. It’s really nice that the staff have started to recognise us too.
I’ve been once during the week, and once on a Saturday night, whilst the food obviously takes longer to prepare on a busy Saturday night the service did not falter at all. I would very much recommend visiting this restaurant some time, the prices are more than fair and the atmosphere is brilliant.
If you’re still not sure you want to go and try it, or you’re worried about the price, check out the website. They even have 2 for 1 on Mondays.
