During a very long walk (15 miles by the time we got home) my Fiance and I decided to pop in to The Cross Scythes for a drink and a bite to eat to keep us going.
That was a very good idea, inside the pub was very clean and the staff were friendly. We were told to grab a seat as soon as we got in and got full table service throughout our visit. We went for a sandwich each knowing that we’d be walking and wouldn’t want to be stuffed but there were lots of lovely looking meals on the menu.
I had a pulled beef, rocket and horse radish crème freche, and he had a Ham Hock with pickle and Cornish Yarg, both were served with Hand Cut Chips.
Both sandwiches were delicious and served on lovely fresh bread and we washed them down with a cold pint of Doombar.
I would definitely recommend this place, the food is fresh and tasty and it doesn’t have a long waiting time. The staff are eager to please and happy to run about after you and if you’re far away there are even rooms available too!
As well as the Bar area there is space for private dining, a snug and an outdoor area plus children are welcome and can be offered colouring to do during your visit.
