Today is my stop on the Odriels Heirs Tour with The Write Reads on Tour!

Something about this book felt really familiar and I still haven’t quite figured out why yet. I don’t know if perhaps I’ve read some reviews and got a case of deja vu, or if I’ve read something else by this author.

The story is enjoyable and well written, I did actually check out both the Kindle version which I was lucky enough to receive for the purposes of this review as part of the tour, but also the Audiobook. I quite like to check out multiple options for accessibility purposes where multiple options are available.

I, personally didn’t get on great with the narration on the audio book so I preferred the experience of this one in the written word. It’s nothing against the audiobook, it’s just that I found it easier to follow by myself than when listening. However, if you need the audio then the option is there and it’s available with 1 credit if you have an Audible Subscription.

There’s a complex world created in this story with lots of characters and cultures. I found that there seemed a lot to take in with this book but if you pay attention then it’s not too much to follow. I think this is one of those stories where if you’re not really interested in the genre then you’ll struggle more, but if you are very into Young Adult Fantasy then it will be right up your street.

I’d be interested to see what else this author has done, I do know that there’s another book in this series out but I’m not sure if I’d carry on with this or have a look to see what else might be available. Nothing against this book at all, it was enjoyable and the imagery is nice but I didn’t gel with it quite as well as I have with others in the genre which is just one of those things really. I like to focus a little more on less characters at a time and I think that’s probably the only reason why.

If you are a fan of complex stories with lots of different characters to follow then you’ll definitely love this. There’s a whole magical structure involved which I think a lot of readers would find really interesting.
